David Jarvis Associates were first appointed in 2018 to undertake the Masterplan and 3D design of an Activity Park (outdoor fitness) for all levels of ability within a Greenbelt site at Nutfield, near Redhill, Surrey.
Since then, the Nutfield Green Park scheme has evolved into a high quality, sustainable and inclusive development of 239 homes, Health facilities and assisted living units, Wellbeing Centre and Outdoor Activity Park. David Jarvis Associates continue to act as Masterplanners for the scheme (using our ability to work in 3D from day one to ensure the proposals can be achieved within the complex site levels and constraints and to provide ongoing visuals and volumetric / budget input (as well as accelerating the detail design stages likely to follow)) but also provides Land supply and Viability information.
The scheme not only utilises our masterplanning, 3D and landscape skills but continues the companies experience relating to Health and Wellbeing / LiveWell.
The outdoor Activity Park: Taking inspiration from the national and local strategies to encourage active lifestyles with all the health benefits of achieving greater physical and mental wellbeing through exercise, the outdoor Activity Park is designed to appeal to everyone of all abilities and ages; from families to the rapidly growing sector of modern outdoor sports enthusiasts who wish to pursue a tougher and more challenging exercise experience outside traditional gyms and health clubs.
It is well recognised that increased levels of physical activity, particularly when located in an outdoor setting, result in the following benefits:
- Reduction in stress levels
- Reduction in depression and anxiety
- Improved self-esteem
- Better resilience
- Enhanced social interaction
- Increased confidence
- Feelings of happiness by being in the natural environment
The Grange: An exemplar Rehabilitation and Respite Care Facility: Set within beautifully landscaped grounds with a specially designed recovery garden, The Grange will provide an exemplar 70 bed rehabilitation and post-operative care facility with a short-term respite care provision. A further 100 assisted living units are provided within a nearby part of the scheme, linked with private ‘buggy’ and pedestrian routes.
Wellbeing Centre: Providing facilities intended not only to support the Activity Park infrastructure but to enhance the sustainability of the local area by providing important services such as an NHS GP surgery and pharmacy, a community shop, restaurant and café, creche, a business hub, indoor and outdoor gyms as well as changing rooms, toilets and appropriate medical and sport treatment facilities and an outdoor children’s play area. The quality of the facility will enhance the experience for all regular or causal users and contribute to the development as a centre of excellence for outdoor activity. The Wellbeing Centre is being designed to exemplify sustainability, energy conservation and energy production from renewable sources wherever possible.
