Rodel Superquarry
Redland Aggregates (now Tarmac) appointed DJA to act as lead consultant on this planning application for a new superquarry of 600,000,000 tonnes on the Isle of Harris. DJA coordinated the major Environmental Impact Assessment (including for the new harbour which would utilise self-loading sea-going ships); no aggregate would be transported by land on the island. The final landform would produce a man-made fjord with valuable flat land at its head.
