Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe devised his 50 year plan for this major industrial project in a National Park having visited the site in 1937.  He passed it on via Sheila Haywood and John Windsor to David Jarvis who wrote his 50 year plan in 1987; Sir Geoffrey wrote an endorsement of this plan as the Foreword.  The project was also one of the first to use the visual impact software devised by DJA in the early 1980s.
