This research was completed in 2006 via the Mineral Industry Research Organisation for Defra. DJA was assisted by Professor Geoffrey Walton and Andrew Crawford. The research looked at how quarries could be planned and designed to maximise the potential for built afteruses; 37 potential afteruses were identified and case studies examined.
