Kilnwood Vale is a high quality residential development between Horsham and Crawley, West Sussex. The proposals involve circa 2500 new homes as well as major infrastructure enhancements to the A264 dual carriageway and new rail station. DJA has been landscape master planners for the project following its outline consent and have been more recently involved in the implementation of the early phases and designs for the subsequent areas. The site includes areas formerly used for inert fill meaning there are complex considerations within in the scheme.

DJA has been involved in the Design codes and Design and Access Statements which are structured to embed a hierarchy of landscape treatments to vehicular routes and open spaces. Major open spaces in the form of Neighbourhood Parks, Leisure Parks, Sports pitches and Green Spines form a substantial amenity provision alongside more naturalised areas of woodland and wetland (SUDS) habitats provided for informal amenity and ecological enhancement. DJA has incorporated the SUDS network within areas of parkland to build character and identity to the open spaces.
